Press Release LONG BEACH, CA (December 17, 2018) — The Board of Directors of Archstone Foundation announces the appointment of Christopher A. Langston, PhD as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds Joseph F. Prevratil, JD, our long-time President and CEO, who is retiring in the beginning of the new year.
Dr. Langston is a national leader in philanthropy with 18 years of experience in program design, evaluation, and foundation management. He has an AB in Psychology and Social Relations from Harvard College; a PhD in Psychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor; and a post-doctoral fellowship in late-life mental and physical health comorbidities at the University of Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia Geriatric Center.
He has served as Program Officer, Senior Program Officer, and Program Director at the John A. Hartford Foundation; a Programme Executive in the U.S. Ageing Programme at the Atlantic Philanthropies; and most recently as Vice President of HealthCare Services, Aging in New York Fund.
Dr. Langston said, “I am excited to have the opportunity to lead Archstone Foundation. I have long been inspired by the leadership, staff, and the work of the Foundation based on its grantmaking in the field of aging; as well as its deep engagement with Grantmakers In Aging and Grantmakers In Health.”

Archstone Foundation is a 30-year-old private grantmaking organization whose mission is to contribute towards the preparation of society in meeting the needs of an aging population. It has championed initiatives in fall prevention, the prevention of elder abuse & neglect, spirituality in palliative care, and most recently launched the Depression in Late-Life Initiative to improve depression care for older adults. Since its inception, Archstone Foundation has awarded over 1,100 grants totaling more than $117 million.
