The Midnight Mission (TMM) announced the election of David Prentice as its Chief Executive Officer and as a member of its Board of Directors, effective on August 1, 2023. The Board of Directors has been working on this transition since G. Michael Arnold, TMM’s executive leader for the past seven years, announced his retirement this year. Prentice and Arnold will work side-by-side over the next several months to ensure a smooth transition of the organization’s leadership, which has had only five leaders in its 109-year history.
“I am confident that David will continue the strong executive leadership we have enjoyed during Mike’s tenure in that role,” TMM Board Chairman R. Stephen Doan commented.
Prentice began working at TMM in 2012, first as a case manager and then as a development officer and left in 2021 to serve as mission director for the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission. He returned to TMM in 2022 as a consultant to fundraise and conduct a feasibility study for the expansion of The Midnight Mission to the San Fernando Valley, an area in desperate need of recovery services.
Prior to his work at The Midnight Mission, Prentice served in the United States Army and was a top salesman in the yacht industry. These experiences shaped his strong work ethic, resilience, and ability to connect with diverse groups and cultures. Prentice excels at building strong relationships and collaborating with community agencies, professional groups, and funding bodies. He has the ability to identify new and innovative fundraising initiatives to maximize program reach and effectiveness. Prentice is skilled in promoting organizational image and visibility through community outreach and engaging fundraising events. Furthermore, he has a talent for developing high-performing teams and fostering a culture of personal growth and productivity. Prentice’s educational background includes a Biblical Studies degree and a counseling certification.
Prentice remarked, “I am humbled and honored to step into the role of CEO at The Midnight Mission. It is a privilege to lead such a dedicated team and serve the community in tackling the complex challenges of homelessness in Los Angeles. Together, we will work tirelessly to provide transformative support, empower individuals, and create lasting change. I am committed to building strong partnerships, fostering innovation, and expanding our reach to ensure that every person in need receives the care and resources they deserve. Together, we will build a brighter future for those experiencing homelessness, one life at a time.”
Prentice is excited to leverage his experience and skills to make a positive impact at The Midnight Mission. He is eager to forge stronger relationships with the community and be a responsible and accessible leader. He currently resides in Studio City with his wife, Felicita, and their dog Charlee.
