The national STEM Funders Network (SFN) is pleased to announce its inaugural Executive Director, Errika Moore, to lead us into the future.

What began in 2012 as a concept to unite a small group of funders to learn, collaborate and advocate for STEM, has led to the successful growth of a national funder collaborative representing twenty-three diverse philanthropic partners from corporate funders to community and family foundations.

The STEM Funders Network shares a common vision and commitment to learn from one another, collaborate and advocate to ensure every young person can have high-quality in-school and out-of-school STEM learning experiences that will equip them with skills needed for an ever changing workforce and for our youth to be the leaders of tomorrow.

However, education in the United States is not equitable. Black, Indigenous, People of Color, low-income and rural youth continue to be left behind. As a country we continue to fall behind in meeting the demand for STEM professionals in the workforce and an even greater demand for diverse STEM professionals. COVID-19 has shown us science, technology, engineering and math based problem solvers are needed to meet our 21st Century demands.

The STEM Funders Network is pleased to have Errika Moore lead our organization as, now, more than ever, we need to unite as organizations to champion equitable outcomes for our country‘s 50 million school-age youth and to ensure a competitive United States.

Errika Moore is a leader in STEM with: 30 years as a coalition builder; 25 years as a diversity, equity inclusion and access change agent; 15 years in nonprofit leadership; 10 years as an entrepreneur and 10 years in advocacy.

Prior to joining SFN, Errika served as a Senior Program Officer for the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, where she led the Foundation’s education portfolio from early childhood education through post-secondary and alternative pathways to education and workforce development. She is the former Executive Director of TAG-Ed (Technology Association of Georgia Education Collaborative) where she focused on K-12 STEM Advocacy throughout the state of Georgia. Prior to this she served as the Vice President of Member Services and External Affairs for IT Senior Management Forum (ITSMF) – the only national organization focused on increasing the representation of black professionals at senior levels in technology and the Vice President of Operations for the Gifted Education Foundation. Additional experience includes working for corporations such as Southwire, BMC Software and IBM.

She has served on numerous STEM education boards, is a published co-author, and a Forbes Nonprofit Council member, and a former STEM education magazine editor . She’s a 2019 GPEE Education Policy Fellow, a 2016 Women in Technology Woman of the Year, received multiple Ecosystem Builder awards and a 2017 Distinguished Women of the Year by her alma mater Georgia Tech and a former White House Fellow. Errika received her Bachelors in Science from Georgia Tech in Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Errika believes potential and talent are distributed equally but unfortunately opportunity is not. Therefore, she is ready to lead SFN into the future and to support a collective national vision to ensure all youth, especially those who are marginalized, have high-quality in-school and out-of-school STEM learning experiences that will equip them with skills needed in the workforce of today and the future.

We are thrilled to have her as part of The STEM Funders Network team, but most of all, we are honored to have such a passionate advocate for our young people.
