For more than 90 years, the USC Caruso Catholic Center (CCC) has linked Catholic students at USC who wish to fellowship with others who live the Catholic faith. Our Savior Parish and CCC is a home for Trojans of all ages who wish to learn and live out their Catholic faith. As one of the top five collegiate Catholic centers in the nation, it provides the Catholic Trojan Family with dynamic programming that encourages community and faith building.

Throughout the school year, over 1,000 current USC students, as well as alumni, parents, and friends, are involved with CCC which offers the Catholic Trojan Family a variety of service, spirit, and intellectual opportunities to participate in. Members of CCC are encouraged to participate in social justice initiatives, worship together during weekday and Sunday masses, attend engaging lectures, or simply break bread together at weekly community dinner on Sundays. CCC has become an essential part of the intellectual and spiritual fabric of the university.

Reporting to the President, the Vice President of Advancement is responsible for directing CCC’s comprehensive fundraising program. This includes providing strategic oversight of annual, planned, major and capital campaigns, leading foundation outreach and grant-writing efforts, and managing alumni relations and stewardship activities. The Vice President of Advancement will integrate and expand programs for principal, major and special gifts into a cohesive plan to achieve stated objectives.


The primary focus of this position is to provide team leadership, strategy for major/principal gift fundraising and volunteer management. This is a senior-level role that works closely with the President, the Pastor, the Executive Team, and the Advisory Board to establish funding relationships, secure resources that support the Center’s mission and ensure success in achieving aggressive metrics and long-term goals.


  • Provide primary direction for donor strategy and solicitation
  • Serve as the key portfolio coordinator and maintain a personal portfolio of 100 donors
  • Recruit and manage all advancement related volunteer committees
  • Evaluate community engagement opportunities and oversee organizational philanthropy
  • Oversee day-to-day fundraising and manage the advancement team including a Marketing & Advancement Associate, Donor Relations Manager, Database Manager, and Researcher
  • Serves as the key liaison to USC Advancement and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Development Department

Growth strategy

  • Drive the organizational advancement vision with clearly articulated short-term/long-term goals
  • Develops strategies for enhancing and expanding donor participation
  • Identify and recruit Advisory Board Members
  • Develop and execute donor recognition and stewardship strategies
  • Help leadership staff and advisory board members cultivate and develop key prospects

Financial stability

  • Create strategies to strengthen annual revenue through major gifts, annual appeals, and special events including the Trojan Saint Dinner and Campaign related events
  • Responsible for helping the organization secure $2.5M in annual revenue
  • Oversee the creation of all major donor and foundation proposals
  • Oversee endowment gifts and reporting for USC, the Catholic Community Foundation Los Angeles and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles endowments
  • Develop the fiscal year campaign budget and forecast operating income for the general budget


The successful candidate will be a hands-on and forward-thinking development professional with exceptional interpersonal skills and a high degree of professionalism and integrity. A compelling, charismatic leader with the ability to move ideas forward by inspiring and motivating people with creativity and energy, the Vice President of Advancement should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as be able to thrive in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will be a resourceful, results-oriented leader with the ability to think strategically, generate new ideas, prioritize, plan, multitask, and set goals and objectives, as well as implement and follow through while meeting financial goals and deadlines. The Vice President of Advancement will be both a skilled manager and an individual contributor who works and thinks independently yet can also build on group dynamics and set high expectations for the team. An energetic and visible leader, the Vice President of Advancement should be committed to and able to passionately represent and promote CCC’s mission and values to diverse groups.


The successful candidate will have broad-based development experience with at least ten years of fundraising in roles of increasing scope and responsibility. Candidates should have demonstrated success in creating and managing a comprehensive development program along with a strong track record in major gift cultivation and solicitation. Expert knowledge of current and evolving trends in major gifts, annual giving, alumni programming, and campaigns is desired. The successful candidate will have experience working collaboratively with a high-level nonprofit Board.


A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree and/or CFRE is preferred.


Salary range is $180,000-$200,000 annually. A comprehensive benefits package will be provided.
