About Venice Family Clinic
Venice Family Clinic provides comprehensive, high quality health care to people in need regardless of their ability to pay or immigration status.
The organization was founded in 1970 by Philip Rossman, MD and Mayer B. Davidson, MD. Back then, volunteer physicians and other dedicated individuals provided basic medical care for free after normal business hours at the UCLA Dental Clinic on Lincoln Boulevard. Today, Venice Family Clinic is a leading nonprofit community health center in Los Angeles with more than 500 staff who serve 45,000 people from the Santa Monica Mountains through the South Bay.
Venice Family Clinic has an expanding network of clinic locations and Early Head Start centers in Venice, Santa Monica, Mar Vista, Inglewood, Culver City, Redondo Beach, Carson, Gardena and Hawthorne, plus multiple mobile clinics and an extensive street medicine program to reach people experiencing homelessness.
Since its inception, Venice Family Clinic has continued to expand the scope and comprehensiveness of services to meet the community’s needs with compassion, dignity, and respect. It offers primary and specialty health care, mental health services, dental care, vision services, substance use treatment, prescription medications, domestic violence counseling, HIV services, healthy food distributions, health education, health insurance enrollment, child development services and more. This integrated approach addresses the unique combination of clinical and social factors that influence patients’ health.
Venice Family Clinic partners with leading doctors and health care facilities across Southern California, including UCLA Health and David Geffen School of Medicine, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, and Providence Saint John’s Health Center. The Clinic also partners with other community organizations and service providers so that patients have access to social and economic programs that will keep them healthy.
