The Opportunity
The Director of Campaigns, Major Gifts & Stewardship is responsible for developing meaningful relationships with donors, securing philanthropic support for the School’s mission, programs, and strategic plan, and leading planning for a future campaign. This position reports to the Head of School and works closely with the Director of Advancement. They manage a portfolio of current and prospective major donors ($25,000+) and lead the School’s donor stewardship and recognition efforts.
The Director of Campaigns, Major Gifts & Stewardship creates personalized engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies that strengthen donor relationships and encourage long-term investment in the School. As an active member of the advancement team, the Director helps build a strategic major gifts program and a culture of philanthropy grounded in the mission and vision of the School.
Major Functions and Responsibilities
Career Track Leading to this Position
The ideal candidate will bring a strong record of personally identifying and cultivating donors, soliciting six- and seven-figure gifts, and stewarding long-term relationships. They will have experience managing a major gift portfolio, contributing to campaign planning, and using donor data and performance measures to guide fundraising strategy. Experience with planned giving and an understanding of how major, campaign, and annual giving efforts work together are also important. A motivated self-starter and strategic thinker, this person will bring warmth, persistence, and judgment to build trust across the Flintridge Prep community. They will be an active listener and persuasive communicator who works effectively with the Head of School, trustees, and colleagues while representing the School with enthusiasm. Experience in an independent school, higher education, or another mission-driven organization is preferred. Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin is desirable.
Salary & Benefits
This position is full-time, onsite, and year-round with a salary of $220,000 to $240,000, depending on skills and experience. Relocation assistance, if needed, is negotiable. A comprehensive benefits package will be provided.
This role requires participation in school and donor events, including evenings and weekends, and travel to meet with donors.
