Former Lompoc resident Lani Zobel Longacre named Girl Scouts San Diego executive

Lani Longacre

July 11, 2018 — Girl Scouts San Diego has promoted a former Lompoc resident to the position of chief mission delivery officer.

Lani Zobel Longacre oversees a comprehensive, multifunctional, integrated plan for program enrichment, membership growth and retention and volunteer engagement and development.

As a key member of the CEO's senior management team, she also helps shape strategic direction and implement local and national initiatives for the 23,000-member local council, according to Girl Scouts San Diego.

"Girl Scouts is the world's best leadership experience for girls because girls are at the center of everything we do," Longacre said. "I'm proud to be affiliated with a 106-year-old organization with unparalleled expertise in girl-focused programming and countless opportunities for girls to experience adventure, inspiration, mentoring, and skill building."

Locally, Longacre initiated or oversaw a number of innovations to the Girl Scouts program, including Cookies Now, which introduced the concept of Girl Scouts bringing inventory with them door-to-door, rather than taking orders and returning days or weeks later with the cookies.

Another popular addition was Cookies on Tap, held during National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend. During this annual event for adults, craft breweries pair Girl Scout Cookies with beer.
